ROLE DESCRIPTION
Leadship is looking for a Naval Architect to provide stability expertise, with proven use of NAPA software, capable of offering management and support at all stages of the design process for various vessel types, from initial concept development through to vessel delivery.
The Naval Architect will be joining an experienced stability team, but will need to be able to undertake projects independently and translate rule requirements into efficient design decisions and proposals for the rest of the team.
Candidates should be able to take a lead role in such projects and enhance the company's strengths in at least two core areas. They should have proven experience working closely with demanding clients and an established professional standing within the industry.
The candidate must have experience executing and coordinating lightweight surveys and inclining experiments for newbuildings and existing vessels, as well as carrying out stability enhancements.
The successful candidate will be based in either our Greek office, and will also be required to travel worldwide based on project requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct lightweight surveys and inclining experiments

• Take a lead role in the stability aspects of ship design

• Develop specifications for vessels of varying types

• Communicate effectively with Class and Flag authorities

• Implement design developments for energy optimisation and decarbonisation

• Participate in design review meetings

• Ensure projects and scopes are carried out in accordance with client requirements

QUALIFICATIONS – Requirements

• Minimum BEng, preferably a Master's degree, in Naval Architecture from a recognised university

• Strong knowledge of software for calculation, 2D drawing and 3D modelling

• At least 5 years of proven experience in shipyards, classification societies or design/consulting companies

• On-site experience at shipyards will be considered an advantage

• Good understanding of the shipbuilding process

• Good understanding of the ship design and approval process

• Proven experience managing projects and multidisciplinary teams

• Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team, managing multiple tasks with tight, overlapping deadlines

• Able to anticipate, identify and act on potential issues

• Ability to handle client and colleague requests in a professional and friendly manner

• Experienced in and passionate about vessel design and the maritime industry

• Proficient in business English, both verbal and written
